Name: Sarah
Nickname: "Sar Bear" and "Momma Sarah"
Breed: Momma and Daddy only know that I am a DSH (Domestic Short Hair) and a beautiful Calico
Age: estimated about 3 years old
Favorite Activity: Sleeping in the heated kitty house
Favorite Thing: Hair bands or any small toy that I can hit around on the floor and play with.
Her Ideal Day: Snuggling in the heated kitty house with one of my babies while I bath them until we both fall asleep.
Least Favorite Thing: When Horatio's "blood lust" kicks in gear and he chases me.
Bad Habit: Looking pitiful and scratching at anyone when I think they might have meat.
Quirk: When I was younger, I loved to roll around on the ground (my mommy thinks I was enjoying my new family and no-nursing freedom). Click here to see a video of me rolling. Nowadays my cute quirk is my stretching. Since I am handicapped my stretches are wobbly and very endearing.
Fun Fact about Me: I was/am a fantastic mommy. The pictures below show you just how much love I have for my babies.
Fun Fact about Me: I was/am a fantastic mommy. The pictures below show you just how much love I have for my babies.
History of me pre-forever home (Mom's story): Apparently a family on the military post had moved and purposely left their pregnant cat behind. The cat had her babies: all 5. A neighbor had seen/understood the whole situation and took them in for a few days. Later they took Sarah and her 5 fresh kittens to the pound...where they immediately went to death row.
Foster Details: During my stay in my foster mom's house was an emotional journey. I was a very young mom...a fantastic one, but still young. My one boy, Griffin, developed a terrible respiratory issue. My foster mom took him from me quickly (I didn't even get to kiss him goodbye) and rushed him to the animal E.R. They kept him their for two days and he seemed to be getting better but then over the second night he took a turn for the worse. My foster mom decided it was best to put him to rest...his little 0.6 pound body had already fought and struggled long enough.
Then one of little girls began to develop the same respiratory condition. Thankfully we were able to catch it quickly enough and through tough love and support ("burrito" tube feedings) she survived...it was a happy miracle. Another baby of mine was chronically sick for months. And my other baby girl almost lost one of her eyes. Thankfully my only surviving boy was a poster-kitten for health though. On top of all my babies having health issues, my foster mom was concerned about my lower body moments and took me to the vet. They determined my handicap is due to me probably being a distemper kitten surviver.
This is a picture of Sarah on the first day I met her.
This is the family Sarah created... that was abandoned by her previous owners.

This is my brave Griffin. I miss you and love you so much.
How I became a part of the family (Through Mommy's eyes): I worked a little with an animal rescue. My main rescue contact is a friend of mine. We were hanging out one day when she got a phone call from the pound saying they had just gotten a momma and her litter and asked if we had the room and willingness to take them. She looked at me and I said, "of course!" I was so excited to foster a momma and her litter...especially knowing we were rescuing the family from death row! Fast forward a couple of months...my foster momma tried to get me adopted but no one seemed to want me as a part of their family. My foster mom was also in the process of trying to buy and move across two states. At the end of it all my foster mom failed at fostering...and adopted me. :) We had just bonded so much through this emotional journey that it only seemed natural to officially call me one of the family.
